Why hello! Long time lurker, first time poster (I think). Finally saved up money and bought a set of five 14" knives from Throwzini. My aim (pun!) is to throw in a circus-format for performance, so I am mostly concerned about precision, and would not use the skill for hunting. I will be starting with balloons, then will eventually be working with a human target--maybe someday work my way up to the wheel of death and moving targets, I hope.

First question: When building a practice target, is plywood a good idea, or should I use solid wood?

Second question: I know there are restrictions for target practice for archery as far as maintaining a certain amount of yardage from dwellings, but since knife-throwing is a much more compact sport, does anyone know if there are similar restrictions? I live in Rochester, NY in the city, but have a very large backyard, if that helps. I'm not even sure where I would find out about said restrictions.
